Waite House isn’t afraid to get its hands dirty doing policy work. And apparently, neither are our friends! On Monday, July 18th, Waite House hosted a review session on a Community Gardens policy for Minneapolis Parks in collaboration with Gardening Matters and Parks staff. Over 30 community members attended, toured the Waite House on-site garden—Peaceful Grounds (note the pic above!) and provided input on the draft policy linked here.
The event was a great success! But we also know that many interested people were not able to attend.
That’s why we will be accepting feedback on this policy online until next Thursday, July 28th. We are specifically trying to determine whether the policy:
- Addresses the existing barriers to land access
- Creates new barriers, or
- Eliminates them
Line-by-line editing is not necessary; please address the spirit of the policy and its specific features in your comments.
All input can be directed to Martin “Farmer” Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org . And thanks for contributing to the effort for land access in Minneapolis!
